Gilding Art For Arabic Calligraphy : 3 Sessions (level 1)

In this course, you will discover the secrets of gilding art, one of the oldest decorative arts associated with Islamic manuscripts—especially the Qur’an and Arabic calligraphy panels. Across six training sessions, you will go through a complete artistic experience that combines traditional techniques with precise manual skills using gold, natural pigments, and fine brushes.

Session Details:

Session 1: Introduction to Gilding Art

• Introduction to the art of gilding and its history in the Islamic world
  

• Overview of tools and materials: gold leaf, colors, glue, paper types, and brushes
  

• Practical training on drawing geometric and floral shapes used in gilding
  

• Rules of symmetry and repetition in ornamentation
  
  

Session 2: Drawing Basic Decorative Elements

• Basic gilding techniques without shadows
  

• Creating a simple decorative frame around a calligraphy panel
  

• Training on selected ornament designs
  

• Use of shading and gradients
  
  

Session 3 : Drawing Basic Decorative Elements

• Combining decorative elements into a unified composition
  

• Applying gilding to borders and titles in a balanced way
  

• Gilding a complete calligraphy panel
  

• Reviewing and refining final touches
